hopefully something rhetorical

I get to go home and end this hellish day.

Why does the day after spring break always have to be so painful?  I don’t remember this when I was a kid or even a student.  But, there is something about having to come back to school after a week off as a teacher that is not a pleasant experience for me.   I think that it is partially all the work I know that I should have gotten done while I was on break.  And, the lazy days that only get me thinking about the lazy days of summer that are on their way.

I think, and I have several students that agree actually, that we should just have two smaller breaks in the spring like we do in the fall.  We could have one smaller one towards the beginning of the semester, and then we could have a Thanksgiving break sized one towards the end to just recharge us enough to keep pushing through to the end of the semester.  Then, I wouldn’t be so completely out of the swing of things!

My one note of joy is that I have gotten myself out of my meeting for tomorrow.  It worked better for a few weeks from now, so I don’t have to come to campus tomorrow.  So, I am actually hoping to get loads of work done tomorrow instead.  In order to make that happen, my plan is to get up with Joe and shower and get ready for the day.  If not, it will be too easy to get sucked into the computer and the fun stuff that I would like to be looking at.  We will see if that helps!  I will report back with what I find out from my experiment in my quest to just write more.  Wish me luck!
